Cartridges – Frequently Asked Questions and Issues
Cartridge errors, QR code issues and correct seating — the most common questions about Korallenwächter cartridges.
I'm getting a cartridge error — what can I do?
If the app reports that chemicals are not detected, work through these steps:
- Update firmware — Check in the Typus app whether a device update is available
- Reinsert the cartridge — The device must remain powered on. Remove the cartridge, wait a moment, then reinsert it until it audibly docks
- Check the connectors — Look for dirt or bent contacts on the device or the cartridge
- Test another cartridge — If a different cartridge works without issues, the original one is defective
Always insert cartridges with the device powered on. Insertion triggers an automatic flush — this is required for correct recognition.
The cartridge is damaged — what now?
For housing damage or bent connectors, please contact support. A damaged cartridge should not continue to be used as measurement results may be affected.
For full details on what counts as deposit-relevant damage and what doesn't, see the deposit system article.
QR code shows as "already used"
This sometimes happens when the scan wasn't fully processed:
- Fully close and restart the app
- Scan the QR code again
- If the problem persists: request a replacement code from support
QR code scanned but counter not reset
If the scan succeeded but the counter still shows the old reading:
- Reload the app (refresh or restart)
- If the counter is still wrong: contact support and include a screenshot of the current state
How do I check if the cartridge is seated correctly?
A correctly inserted cartridge:
- Sits flush with the front edge of the device
- Audibly docks at the back (soft click)
- The status LED blinks once to confirm recognition
If the cartridge doesn't dock properly, a gentle side-to-side wiggle during insertion can help.
